Freaking Jacobs!!!!!
Freaking Jacobs!!!!!
AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHH!!!! I am so pissed right now. I have a Jacob's coil and energy pak powering an MSD distributer on my 350 TPI, and again it won't freaking start!!!!
I can't stand this anymore. I pulled the whole thing off last time - and all of a sudden it worked like magic. Now I can pray to every *** and still no fire. It turns over, just not one d*mn fire. I really am a mellow guy normally, but it's finals week and I have no sleep (2.5 hours) and I'm stuck at school because my car. Yeah, I'm having a bad time.
If you have had similar probs, post. I'm just sitting around school anyways =<

Nope
I just went and tried it again to no availe. I checked the plug wired going to the distributer, I checked all fuses, I checked my ground for my anti-theft kill switch, I tried to start it without using my keys (my car has that option), I checked the positive and negative wires going to the coil, and still I'm stuck here at school.
Last time it did this (mentioned above) I did find the wire going to the ignition control module was on purdy loose, so I clamped it down with some pliers. It's not going anywhere.
Sombody please help.

Well, when you get home, start putting in your stock components one at a time. When it finally starts, work around it (put the other stuff back in). Then re-install the part, making sure it's absolutely correct, and if it doesn't start you've found your culprit.
Does it start occasionally? What exactly is it doing when it doesn't start? If your injectors are firing (can be determined with a noid light), then you know you're getting reference pulses, so the distributor might be ruled out. Looking at the cap can confirm that.
It's possible you just got a bad part, but Jacobs is generally good stuff. I know eventually I'll be getting a full Jacobs ignition and moving my full MSD to the other car.
hehe, you're not still at school, are you?

The jacobs ingnition stuff is junk as far as I am concerned. Any jacobs **** ive used has went bad. I think they got some kind of horse **** guarentee on their stuff but I never sent it in.
If I were you, I would just buy an MSD box and coil. Ive NEVER had a problem with an MSD box and only 1 coil has crapped on me in 7 years.
Ill never use anything but an MSD box and coil EVER.

No Problems
I have Jacobs and it's still going. Six years and no problems. Those who I know who have MSD have had problems no matter what kind of car. Imports or AMerican cars.
My brother had a brand new MSD 6AL and it failed in 2 months. What junk.

Got it working
Well, I figured out what the problem was finally. Thanks for everything guys. It was the pick-up coil located at the bottom of the distributor. A little $15 part caused all that trouble. Runs and starts everytime now. Jacobs is still on my car.

Of course you followed Jacobs instructions when you installed the Jacobs coil. In which case you'd have the stock coil still installed, just bypassed. You'd have simply moved the coil wire from the Jacobs coil back to the stock coil and realized the problem wasn't the coil and looked somewhere else. All that needless cursing of the Jacobs coil could have been avoided.
Mine has never given me any problems in the 5 years I've been using it.
