Front turn signals

How can I make my turn signals come on as the brightest setting all the time? What do I need to rewire, in detail if possible plz. I know the stuff about the bulbs burning out faster and it'll probably melt the housing, and when it blinks it'll be dimmer. But it's not that big a deal, just wanna try it out, thanks in advance.

There are quite a few ways to do what you described. I designed a daytime running light circuit that you could build & install - it's a fairly simple circuit. It turns the bright filaments on during the day & still uses the bright filaments as turn signals, as well - just like the factory DRL functionality. Willie has one installed in his '87 & he could scan the schematic & send it to you - send him an E-mail if you want a copy.

Another way to do what you describe, if you don't mind the turn signals using the dim filament & if you don't mind the bright filaments burning at night, too, is to do as follows:

1. Cut the brown (pk lts) & light blue (L turn) wires going to the left front turn signal bulb. Hook the light blue harness wire to the brown bulb wire.

2. Cut the brown (pk lts) & dark blue (R turn) wires going to the right front turn signal bulb. Hook the dark blue harness wire to the brown bulb wire.

3. Connect the dark blue & light blue wires from both bulbs to an ignitin power source (thick pink wire going to the coil).

You may have to replace your turn signal flasher with a non-current sensing type, from any auto parts store, to make them flash, if you have the current sensing type flasher installed now. The dim filament in a 2057 bulb draws only 0.6 amperes, compared to 2 amperes for the bright filament.

The wire harness mods listed above will make the bright filaments burn when the ignition is turned on & use the dim filamnents as turn signals, however, the turn signals may not even be noticable.

Right on. If I give you a couple bucks for it and make the drive to tucson, can I grab a set from you? The daylight sensor sounds awesome. Thanks.

Someday, I'll make a PC board for it - then it will be really easy to build - until then, it will be up to individuals to build their own - just too many projects going for me, right now! If you can solder, there's only 4 transistors & a handfull of other components to the circuit.
