Trunk will not pull down
Trunk will not pull down
After I installed a new stereo and new speakers in my car my trunk stoped pulling down. I put a new motor in it worked for about 10 minutes and stoped working completely. I sent it down to my mechanic and he could not get it to work either. Can anyone help me???
don't know whether you got that trunk that closes electrically with a little push or not. if you do, maybe you just have to find the right alignment for the mechanism to work. mine once in a while moves down and won't close until i have to realign the mechanism. loosen up the bolts and move the mechanism and tighten them up. keep trying till the trunk closes. and if it did, then you solve the problem. well, anyway, that it the first thing that i would do first before going to more expensive solutions.

Well Irocz, he did say "trunk stoped pulling down. I put a new motor in..."
so that would give us a big clue there.
Just waiting to hear the symptoms of it if any and noises...and such...

I had an intermittant problem with mine that turned out to be the connector that attaches to the motor making poor contact with the pins. I removed the wires from the connector and expanded the sockets to it'd make better contact and have not had any problems since.
That said, you can easily check it by moving the plastic switch in the latch when the motor has moved it to the "up" position. When the hatch closes, it moves this switch to tell the motor to pull the assembly down. Just move this switch with your finger and see if you can get the motor to operate. Wiggle the wiring and connectors, especially to the motor to see if you can get to operate.
If you get it to go down, simple releasing the switch will tell the motor to move the assembly up.
Just curious, why did you install a new motor?
You did check the fuse, right? (Sometimes the most obvious is the most overlooked...)

mine motor sometimes goes down with out the trunk going down with it with out me knowing. expecially when i use my key to open it. in this case the trunk doesn't wanna shut. all i do, is with your finger, there is a like a switch on the motor wich you can get to without taking anything off or apart. it's where the trunk thing catches to. just push down on it, and it'll bring the motor back up to the top again, and now the lid will close. this is for me at least. good luck
