VATS problem or not?
VATS problem or not?
Every now and then my car wont start but I'm not sure if it's a VATS problem or not. I put the key in, the security light comes on for 1-2 secs and then goes out. I try to start the car but get nothing. I replaced the starter because I thought it might have been that. Replace the battery too.
The only things I can think of is the VATS or maybe heat soak to the starter solenoid as it seems to do it only when I have driven the car.

If the security light comes on for a few seconds & then goes off, then the VATS system should be enabling the start relay.

I had that phantom "no-start" myself - for about 4-5 months. Last time it happened, it didn't want to start at all and I was getting really pissed... Anyhow, I reached under the car to the starter wiring and it seemed loose, jiggled it around and the car started right up. When I got home and let it cool down a bit, I checked all the connections and it all seemed to be tight and I was like WTF?. So what I ended up doing was to disconnect all the wiring at the battery, starter, and grounding points and cleaned up everyone of the terminals with a wire brush. Haven't had any problems since. (but I will tell you I screwed up and forgot to put the fuse back in my starter cut-out on my alarm when I did all that and then I was REALLY pissed off. I thought I really messed something up and then I remembered I left it out - silly me...)
