Argh ! Acc'y fuse blowing again !!
Hi,
I just posted about this fuse a few days ago. I took out the lighter and the fuse went in and did not blow, and I thought all was well.
But..... the same fuse blew again. The fuse lasts for about 10 minutes of easy driving. There's nothing specific I do that blows it. I don't use any of the parts that it goes to, it just blows out after about 5 or 10 minutes of driving.
So, my q for today is this : How do I get the lighter socket to come out? I have the lighter out already. Can the socket itself be corroded and blowing out the fuse ? BTW, I can use the lighter, and that will NOT blow the fuse .
But I'd still like to remove the lighter socket, or disconnect the wires to the socket, just to rule it out as the cause of the short. Do I need to remove the console lid ??
Thanks

Remove the panel it is mounted in & unplug the connector on the rear of the socket.

Do you have an aftermarket car radio? That would be a prime spot to check for an exposed wire. The constant power feed to the radio is on the same circuit as the lighter and dome light.
The radio looks like an original, although there is a wire which loops out from under the radio 'console' by the driver's right foot ! Another thing : even though the owner's manual says the radio is on the dome light fuse, the radio never gets knocked out when this fuse blows !!
