keyless installation

I want Keyless Entry for my bird, but I don't want to have to do a lot of modificatoins to do it.

I want to be able to take it out and it be like it was never there. Is there a lot of wire cutting involved? Can this be gotten around if so?

I also would like a remote start too, but I figure there is a lot of modification involved with that, exspecial with VATS.

Any input will be appreciated.

You can install a keyless entry without cutting any wires except for your two lock/unlock wires. The rest can just be spliced into with t-taps,though I recommend stripping back a portion of the insulation and soldering the connections. That's the way I do all my installs.Much more reliable in the ever vibrating enviroment of an automobile.Your lock and unlock wires must be cut because the relays must be wired in between the switch side and motor side of those wires since our cars have a reverse polarity system for the power locks. Even with remote start, everything can be put back together without anyone ever knowing there was anything there,if it is done correctly.

That's good news, when I get the system I'll get one that has remote start too.

I can't remember the colors of the wires, I actually installed a keyless entry system, but not the remote start as I put said I was going to back in 2000, lol.

I took the door panel off and traced which wire was which from the switch. I already had to take the door panel off anyway because I had to fix the lock on the passenger side.

Not a single wire had to be cut including my lock/unlock wires when I installed my remote.

I didn't cut any either. I used those little plastic snap things that tap into a wire without cuttting them.

Just remember - the remote start can only be done on a automatic car since you pretty much have to park a manual tranny car in gear...

People do it sometimes anyway though. Just have to make sure that you leave it out of gear if you plan on starting it remotely the next time. And they also bypass the clutch cutoff switch.
