Car starts when clutch isnt depressed. Safety feature?

My car is a 91 manual 305. I have that safety feature that prevents the car from being started if the clutch is not depressed. Well this week I can start the car WITHOUT the clutch being depressed. what is causing this and how can I fix it?
Thanks
Ryan

It is as simple as a sensor on the clutch pedal assembly telling the computer when the clutch is down...I remember mine wouldn't start sometimes, so I'd have to wiggle the clutch sideways when depressed to get the car to start. The mechanic said that if I had to, I could just find the little mechanism, yank the wires, and connect them. I don't think it should be too hard to find...just a contact of some sort. Sorry I couldn't be of more help! In any event, it won't hurt your car as long as you and everybody driving it depresses the clutch before starting like they should anyhow

The clutch start switch behind the clutch pedal assembly is the culprit & needs to be replaced. The switch is in line with the starter solenoid circuit (not the computer).
