cool idea?? sequential blinkers.

I once saw an older car with 3 tailights on each side like third gen transams and irocs that had the blinkers fire sequentially.
like when you set the blinker stick for a turn the three tailights on that side blink from inner to outer sequentially.
has anyone ever done this.
I think I can come up with electronics to do this bu just wanted to drop a line to see if anyone wanted to help or give insight.

1974 Cougars did this,
The oem (remakes I guess) I was told, were $150 per side
I'm sure you can make them w/radio shack parts alot cheaper.
You're not alone in thinking this could be a cool thing for a T/A

For the sequnencer to work,, you would also have to bybass the flasher relay that operates the back signals.

I also had the thought of using a xmas light sequencer (because it's cheap & is prebuilt)so the lightss would chase out to the edge (the box on the Cougars lit up 1 2 3 then off instead of chasing)

I actually took a class where we had to design a digital circuit that did exactly what you guys are trying to do. (only we did it on a computer) If I can find it I'll put it up here. I don't think it was that complicated. Not sure if you can get the parts though.

I am going to be doing that in the future. I have a schematic somewhere. It isnt hard to do at all. And you would have to change the normal flasher to the hazard flasher unit. Shouldnt cost more than 20-30 dollars total.

Also, just FYI, they sell units that do that for 96 era Mustangs. The ones with the brake lights divided vertically. It could probably easily be adapted to your car.

Hey Jza,, you wouldn't happen to have a link handy would you ? (yea I'm to lazy to look fo myself )
Also have never seen a mustang with sequential signals.
I know a friend of mine had a cougar w/the signals in the back like that & I've always thought they were sweet,,, even for a ford,, just goes to show you,,they can have a good idea once in awhile LoL

i know you guys may have to go in with a blind fold but there is a tech article @ www.mustangworld.com that explains in detail about sequential turn signals and hazard lights. it was way cheap(you go buy a blinker switch thingamajig from radioshack and thats like the most you spend)if you really want to swing that way and copy the F-O-R-D-S(shh i didn't want to say it )i advise you to go to that site and look around(hey i know my competition ) otherwise if you have a weak stomach and can't bear to look at (shhh) F-O-R-D-S i claim no responsibility......hehehe have fun with it and send 'em my ragards if you bash 'em

no thats actually a good idea but hopefully I can come up with a method/parts without going there to that other website""
I dont think it should be to hard provided someone will post how the origional blinker setup works in our cars.
that be known, it shouldent be hard to modify to achieve these results!
I am currently very busy but will update on this project if I get the time to attack it earnestly.

ha!
I wonder if the "late style" sockets are the same as the ones on the t/a s and firebirds.
wouldent that be nice.
hmm. I still think im going to do it from scratch though b/c it should be cheap and that site basically gave me a design that I think will work.

testing new sig too
