More Fuse Stuff
More Fuse Stuff
Just in case anyone has any ideas .... I have found at least one definite cause of the accessory fuse blowing. I discovered that a spark was flying when I moved the big sheath of wires to the driver's side of the fuse box. Once when the sparks were flying the 20 amp fuse blew out. Aha !
The problem now is... I can't find any bare wires that are causing the spark. I didn't see exactly where the sparks came from, just near the sheath of wires. There are wires in there coming off the door switch too, which go to the accy fuse, but I can wiggle them all around and not blow the fuse.
Can't get a good look at the wires above the fuse panel (behind it) since the goddammned panel will NOT swing down. Maybe all my squeezing of the tabs has caused this short !!!
I removed the 2 screws holding the fuse box to the frame, and let the fuse box hang loose. No fuses blow in this state, even if I am moving the wires around. But as soon as I screw the fuse box back onto the frame, the accy fuse and the gage fuse blow out if I push on the sheath.
Obviously something is getting bent into the wrong shape when I screw the fuse box back onto the frame. Question is, what is getting bent ? Nothing looks like it is getting stressed when I screw the fuse box back on.
Right now I have the fuse box dangling, and so far I have driven the car about 15 minutes with no fuses blowing
Anyone have any insight for me here ???
Thanks,
