On my car, when i put the headlights up, the driver side goes up, but the passenger side does not. Hoew ever, if i crank it up by hand and close both of them by the switch, they both close. Both lights work.

Try this: locate the relays for each headlight, there's one on each fenderwall, above the charcoal canister and above the battery. Swap 'em, see if the driver's side acts like the passenger side & vice-versa. One may just have a contact gone bad.

Hey, I had this problem on my 87 cuz the previous owner hit an owl with the driver side light or something and it quit so I just ran some wires from the working passenger side to the left after replacing the bezel of course and it worked like new instead of replacing the 130$ relay for them...

The relays are only a couple bux. The motors are expensive, but you can fix them yourself if they go (turn the plastic gear inside so the unused area is actuating them)


Gotta watch for 'dem damn owls!!!

hey, i have the same problem... can anyone tell me the part numbers for the isolation relay and the actuator relays? The previous owner put a camaros wiring harness on it so it doesnt have anything to turn the lights up and down (exept for the actuators which arent hooked up). Thanks

Just changed my passenger side assembly recently as a matter of fact!! The assembly and motor are attached so it all comes out in one piece...as long as you don't take the motor bolts loose!! It took me about 30 minutes or so to take out the old one....mainly because I didn't know what I was doin'!! But to put the new assembly back in only took me about 15-20 minutes!! The new assembly was off an older firebird so I had to adjust it a bit but the whole swap out was fairly easy!! It's not one of those projects that you wish you woulda never started and will never do again!! I'd do it again!!
