Anybody here running a Hypertech Fan Switch?

I'm looking to use this switch in my 88 IROC and wanted people's opionions. My main question is the difference... Did you guys see a difference in how the temperature of the car was after installing the switch? Thanks!

Well, i'm not running a Hypertech, but i've got a Jet fan switch. It's really one of the best things I ever did for my engine, keeps it right in the 185-200 range. I've also got a hi-flowing water pump and a 180 stat. I'll have an aluminum radiator once I put the new engine in.

In my case not really, but i'm driving around a place where it's nothing but stop-go stop-go stop-go, so my mileage is always lousy, no two ways about it. I put it in so that my engine wasn't always running in the 220-240 range, I was concerned about roasting gaskets & stuff. The last time I checked my mileage on the highway I got about 20-23mpg, original '84 L69 engine with a new carb and Accel ignition and a bunch of other stuff. I'd say i'm getting around 12-15 in the city.

cooling down the engine may not change your gass mileage at all. it may lower the temp of the intake possibly causing a lower incomming air temp and better combustion, but maybe not.let me know

Along with a lower temp T-stat, the Hypertech 176-166 Switch was one of the first things I changed in my cooling system. The temperature used to rise at a normal rate all the way to past 220, but after installing the switch it took a little bit longer to get there but sometimes depending on traffic it would stop before 200. The switch did make somewhat of a difference but did not cure the high temperarutes inherent with third gen cars.
If you want to stay below 200 all the time you are going to have to do a lot more than just replacing the fan switch.

I had one of those on my last car, a 92 RS. It along with a hypertech stage2 chip, and 180 degree stat kept it below 200 almost all the time. BTW i live in west texas and it gets very hot here.
