Yes, its fine, but you should disconnect the 9th injector so you dont flood the engine on startup. You are swapping to the 89 MAF computer?

I have an 86 305tpi,i was wondering if there would be any benefit for me to swap the computer and which one would i put in?

Iroc Kid, I do not believe you need to replace your ecm (if you want to remain with MAF), but converting to the 89 eprom (ARAP is the best MAF version) and disabling the cold start injector is all that would be needed to do this.
You may also want to consider going SD. Check out the DIY PROM Board and do some reading. There are plenty of posts on this subject. Also, Grumpy (Bruce Plecan) just did an post "MAF vs SD...no BS" that lists the differences between them. There are times when you may wish to consider going with SD. But for most 305 guys, there is no need. But converting to an 89-type setup is the best way for MAF guys to go.
