Backlight For (auto) Shifter

The backlight on my auto. shifter (that lights up the gear letters) only works about 1/3 the time. where should i look to correct this? i took a quick look at teh front of the counsole and didn't see any loose wires.

I'd start simple and replace the bulb. Sometimes a bulb's filament can break away stopping it from working, but if it re-contacts itself, the intense heat can weld it back together temporarily.

If you can't see a problem with the wiring, there's always the option of replacing the wires. Run one to a good earth, and the other to your light switch, or even your sidelights themselves.

Good luck

Si
