Please help car is stranded at my work

Here's the problem, I have power to everything but the car won't start. The fuses are fine. Is it my starter?(no clicking noise like usual when a starter is going out). Does it have a relay that tells the computer the clutch is pushed in? More background(89 RS, 305 standard) I know I do have a short, sometimes there is no power at all, and I have to jiggle the harness on top of the block to get it going, but usually if there is power inside, the car turns over no problems. Please help, my car is stranded at work, and I hate bumming rides to and from. Thanks in advance.

i have the exact same problem that you did have, i have narrowed mine out...

i dont know about your connections, because that was not my problem, but my starter was being dumb also, i can hear mine either not click at all, or click and misfire or something, either my flywheel is messed up or i just need to shim my starter, one of the 2, but i busted out my friend PROM softare, disabled VATS, and now im back to my starter being dumb, and i also had power to everything...

i dont know when they started that key thing, i hope it was 89+ or this post is gonna make me look like a monkey's ***

Ummm, if it's a 5 speed, can't you just get some guys to push it and pop the clutch to get it started?

87 T/A yes chances are good that I could pop the the clutch since I do have power. However, then my car would be stranded in my driveway and I'm still bumming rides to and from.

I had the same problem with mine (Jiggling the wire to start). It turned out to be a short in the selonoid.

Thanks for all the info. She was just being moody again, to much time fishing and not enough time spent with her. So I will spend more time with her and check the connections and my selonoid. Now on the 89 you can replace the selonoid(however you spell it) without having to replace the whole starter correct? I'll keep everyone updated since it seems I'm not the only one with this problem.

Yeah but in my parts store experience it is almost the same price to replace the whole starter. Just a thought.

I picked up a new starter last month for $60 after core exchange. Just go with a new starter. Tell the salesman you want a decent priced one, or they might try and stick you with the most expensive, they tried that on me with one for $150.
