alternator wire problem

Engine: 5.7L 600cfm carb
Transmission: 700R4 (auto)
alternator wire problem
hey, where does that little white wire that comes off the alternator plug go to? there is one thick red one and one skinny white one that i accedently cut off from somewhere, is it important? i have an 89 T/A 5.7L GTA if that helps
