Digital cluster swap

Will a digital cluster swap straight into my 89 bird? Since mine is electronic anyway should i just be able to replace it with my one, or is the dash behind the cluster different?

why are you wanting to do this??? digital speedometers lag and none of them are really known for being reliable. i've got the package in my '84, and am praying that they don't go out, even though that means that i get to put in all new auto meters.

Summit racing has digital dashes for 82-92 camaros. For like $350, they hook right up to your wires. Suppose to be an easy swap. Thinking of doing it myself. I wouldn't use a used one.

Its an electrical nightmare. The dash plugs are completely different, and there would be alot of custom wiring. And if it has the Driver Information Center, forget about that working at all. I am very good at wiring stuff up, and once I took a look at what was all involved, and re-sold my digital dash.

hi there,

converting the digital dash was no problems, well for me it was not. i had the whole thing working in less than 3 hours. even the d.i.c. (drivers information center) it was in a 87 gta. my 88 gta has the facotry digital dash. everything on the dash and the information center worked just fine. just some re-wiring. the actual dash itself is the same as the digital dash. the harness are differant. theres a place for the digital dash harness. theres a total of 3 of them. 2 for the cluster and one for the d.i.c. all you need is both wiring diagrams for the analog and digtial dash. its just a matter of swapping the plugs over and running a few wires and adding a few sensors. its not that hard if you do wiring. you have to ask your self if you want to do this. the look is real cool and theres alot of nice features. i have done 2 of these conversions. if you want the wiring diagrams just let me know and i will send them to you.i wrote a few articles on this on the gtasourcepage. alot of people say you have to convert the a/c controls as well. but you dont. hope this helps you.
