key resistence

i just hooked up a remote start on my 92 camaro and was wondering if anyone can tell me exactly how to figure out the resistence in the key so i can bypass the vats security thing thanks

Axle/Gears: 12-Bolt 3.73
Using an Ohm Meter, put one lead on one side of the silver tab inside the black thing on the key, and the other lead on the other side. The meter will show the resistance.

I hope that makes sense.

i figured thats how i had to do but what do i set the ohm meter at and about what should the meter read

Typically, when measuring an unknown resistance with a non-autoranging meter, start at the highest scale on the meter and work down.
