How do I check to see for a electrical leak or battery drain??

I did do a search and it told me to use an ammeter to check for amps but what do you hook it up to?? Do you hook up one side to negitive and one to the positive? I really dont get what it means?? please explain?

Put the ammeter in series with the positive cable at the battery. Which means put the black lead from the ammeter to the positive post on the battery, and hook the red lead to the positive cable for the car. If there is a draw on the system, then the ammeter will show a draw. To find what is making the draw, have someone look at the meter while you are pulling fuses. Pull one fuse, see if it goes away, if not, put the fuse back in and keep going till you find which circuit is making the draw.

Hope this helps.

That is correct. Most volt meters will have a setting for Amps Drawn, it should be something like Am, or mA which is for Milliamps. A digital meter is the best way to go, but the old analog needle style will work, you just have to watch for the slightest movement.

Let us know how it goes.
