cruise not working

I have aquired an 86 TA 305 w/carb. the car had been sitting in the weather for 5 yrs. I've gotten it running quite well but the criuse won't work. The column switch, module,& vacuum servo have been replaced. I have ground on the servo & module, and vacume on the servo. The vss sensor (brown wire) varies between 5 & 0 volts when the car is in motion, and the speedo works fine. what else could it be?

Do you have vacuum at the small hose going to the servo from the cruise vacuum reservoir, which is mounted below the servo? Does capping off the port that goes to the large hose (brake operated release valve) at the servo fix the problem?

Here's a schematic for an '85 system - should be very close to your '86.

Hey, Sean, I used to live in Raleigh & my wife worked up in Creedmoor - I miss the green & changes of season..........Used to run my '92 Z @ Dunn Benson 1/8 mile track - is it still up & running?

Still no dice the small hose has vacuum ,and I caped the large hose at the brake switch but it's still not working.

I havn't been to benson dragway, but I'm sure that I'ts still up and running. I really like to go to peidmont dragway, they a great big dog shoot out once a month!

Small world right! I just had someone move in behind me that is from Arazona. Why did you move?

I'm from AZ & family lives here......

I'd start by verifying that the switches on the multifunction lever & the brake activated switch work by measuring the voltages at the connector to the cruise module while toggling the switches. If the switches appear to be working, then either the module or the servo may be defective & you may want to go to a junk yard & pick up one of each.

It may be a long shot in... well.. you know but, my cruise quit working (when my bird actually was together) because the servo thing that pulls the throttle had a small tear on the bottom side of it letting the vacuum escape from it. The cruise worked intermittantly(sp?) because of it.

If Tim didn't help you solve it,, you've got a big problem.
