Stereo cuts out when brake is applied

I have a problem with my stereo. most of the time but not always my radio (aftermarket not original) cuts out when I hit the brake pedal. I even hooked up the stereo directly to the battery posts and still the same result. anyone ever have this problem?? I am not much of an electrical guy so please give any input in english and not some garble the avg guy won't understand. thanks guys.

Your battery or alternator may not be able to handle the load. Also, I heard some high output alternators only put out a lot when driving. At idle their output goes down, somtimes to the point that the SES light goes on.

Check all your grounds!!!! That happened to me last summer. It started off not too bad, then got so bad that everytime I touched the power windows, shifted, braked, or anything else electrical, the stereo went out. Turned out to be a little ground from the firewall to the engine that was loose. I just tightened that baby up and all my problems were solved.
