Electrical Problems I Think
Electrical Problems I Think
I got an 82 firebird S/E LG4. Problem. Can't kick choke down after cold start, but eventually it goes down to a normal idle after driving for a while. Now, it also will kick back up for no apparent reason as well. My mechanic say that the Choke itself is good, but when he tested the current at the wire itselt it was weak. Could this cause my Choke not the function properly? Additionally, my choke light is almost always on, especially when running the headlights. Recently, I also noticed that my left turn signal indicator stays on as well, but it operates properly, the bulb is not blown. Maybe my alternater is going bad.. It has been starting slow occasionally, but eventually starts.. I'm going to get both my battery and alt. checked this week. Any thoughts??

I would definitly have the altenator checked.
I know that when I have lost an altenator belt, the first light to come on is the choke light.
From what your describing it does sound like the altenator is getting weak.
