torque converter lock up, and temperature wireing
ok, all i really need to know is what side of the firewall (passanger or driver) the temperature sensor wire is suppost to go into (or out of). and what do i have to do to lock the torque converter up? do i have to ground(or apply power to) one or more of the wires comeing out of the modual at the back of the tranny? and how will i know if its locked? will it click? or does the car have to be moveing for it to lock up? i have one green wire comeing out of there that doesnt go anywhere and if i apply power to it, it sparks, if i ground it, it does nothing. and there isnt any power comeing out of it.

Temp guage sender wire is a single green wire located at the sender unit which is normally bet cyls 1&3 on driver side. grounding that wire should peg the guage. you can lock the conv at any time but if its idleing it will stall the vehicle. go to this site www.technicalevolution.com. Ken has an article on how to lock up 700-r4 boxes on non ECM vehicles.

uhhh.... i looked around for quite a while and i didnt see anything on that page that mentions how to lock the torque converter up. there is plenty that tells how a torque converter works though.
maybe try this https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...ueswitch.shtml

i do understand how a torque converter "should" lock up. i removed my ecm, so if i go by what that tech article here on third gen says, will it still lock up?

As long as you have the wires and the connector still going to the tranny then you can still rig up a switch to manually lock-up the TC. I'm currently experiencing a brain fart, but one of the wires (of 3) just has to get 12 volts, via a simple switch.
And also, no the car will not stall when the TC is locked, it shouldnt ever lock while its in 1st gear, only 2nd through OD. Besides, when your city crusin, you dont need to lock the TC, it just makes for better mileage on the highway.
