car stalling... not starting... then running fine!!! HELP

PROBLEM: last few days driving the car it occasionally acts like it wants to stall and die... kinda like the engine stalls... but it doesn't... just barely... that was until last night... driving home... it did its half stall thing... then a mile down the road it died... i pulled over... tried to start it... i had power, started turned... engine rolled over... but no go... thought it might be the fuel pump... cause it didn't seem to be priming like usual... but then it started to prime and started after like 10 minutes... and it was fine until my next stop... then it did it again later that night... same thing... stopped.... off for a while... then start and go.... but it finally stalled and didn't start... i left it and came back this morning... started with no problem... i am guessing i have either an ignition problem, or a gremlin in the harness... something to do with the fuel relay or wiring...:confused

first check the easy stuff, ive known people that had the same problem and it was only a clogged fuel filter. when it does it check to see if you have spark. then get into the hard stuff.

Sounds like possibly the fuel pump or loss of voltage to it. Check the fuel pressure, it might give you a clue.

mine does the same thing. just shuts off while driving. I havent been able to figure it out but I think it may be due to the fact that my speedo isnt hooked up.

cutting off problems

My 87 was doing the same when I finally sent it to a garage. I feel as if I've sinned. I do all the mechanic work and I've went through the car and replaced everything you can imagine. Anyway, come to find out, the distributor went bad. When I say went bad I mean that oil made its way past the shaft that drives the rotor and filled the cap with oil. $300 and a lesson learned. Hope this helps. My car only has 115k and this was the last thing I expected. No oil ever even dropped on the pavement.
