Upgraded Headlights / Wiring

I just ordered the Sylvania Silverstar sealed beam headlight bulbs for my 1990 Formula. I read in one of the technical articles that upgrading headlights without upgrading to external relays and heavier gauge wires could cause problems. I certainly don't want to burn up a harness. But, I also don't like doing work that is not needed. Can anyone offer their opinion for me? I know that some of you have the Silverstars because this board is where I got the suggestion from.

You shouldn't have to worry about the Silverstars overloading your existing wiring. They're still standard wattage bulbs. It's when you go to 75 or 100 watt bulbs (usually in H4) that you start running into gooey wire insulation.

But external relays and heavy gauge wiring will increase your light output by itself. It's a win-win upgrade. Protect your vehicle and increase the performance of your lighting.
