Fog light switch help
ok get ready for some stupid questions
i dont think my fog switch isnt working right. i have to hold the button down for my foglights to stay on. i took it apart and the switch only moves in one direction, not 2 like my defroster switch. its made to do this, so is the switch supposed to "click on" "click off" or is it just a momentary switch? i have taken the switch apart and it only stays closed if u hold down on it. also there are 2 leds in it, one orange one green. is the orange supposed to be on when the lights are off then green lights only when the fogs are on?

the orange one comes on when the parkinf lights are on.
the green light is supposed to tell you when the fogs are on..
when i turn mine on i hear a click and the green light turns on, and the button goes back to the center and to turn off you click it the other way and the button goes back to the center..

my switch only moves to one side, then snaps back to center. it wont move it 2 seperate directions. there is a little rubber stop so that it cant move in that other direction, so i guess thats just how its designed.

That looks like a late model 3rdgen bird foglight. That same switch controls my N2O purge. (My car did not come with factory foglights. I added this fully-optioned panel so that I could have non-obvious switches for my accessories) It is a momentary switch, and it does switch two different ways. I am not sure how the fog lights originally turned on and off, but my guess is that a right click turned them on and a left click turned them off. A brain module or relay might be at fault, not the switch. Check for proper continuity with your DVM at the switch's poles to eliminate the switch as a possability. In the mean time, try to locate a diagram of how the fogs were wired. I'll do some hunting for you also.
OOps, with a second look, I may have confused myself on what switch is what. I'll take a look when I get home from work. Sorry about the confustion.
