trunk release

Anyone know a way to diagnose the trunk release? like what to look for, seems like everything back there is hooked up and the button isnt broken when I hit it I hear it click, but isnt popping the back... Dont know too much about it...

Would it be cheaper/easier to get a diffrent aftermarket release installed?

I NEED a trunk release, the lock was ripped off and the metal back there ripped up pretty bad, so I just want to cover the damage with a metal plate and get a new plastic cover and call it a day for now...

ANY HELP IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!:hail: :hail:

The solonoid may be bad. Check for power at it when the button is pressed. Did it just stop working or did it do it after you worked on it?

The soloniod is on the hatch motor. it has one heavy cable coming from it from one end and that cable attaches to the lock mechanism. It should have 1 or 2 wires coming from it.

Apply 12V to the solinoid. If it operates, its good. Talk to Lonsal about hatch parts. He sells them. Any of the thirdgen stores listed on the site should have one.

If you have HITHERE 5sp. make sure the HITHERE-brake is set
