Kill switch idea
ok, im really serious about making a kill switch. ive heard of some people making them in the lighter....ie when the lighter is in the car will start and then you can just take the lighter with you as another key. is this possible on thirdgens? has anyone done it? does anyone know how to wire something like this?
thanks

Do a search, it can be done, in order to start the car the lighter has to be pushed in, not just sitting there btw...
I would find a better way of doing it, cause people will see you doing that to the car and get the idea, even though your friends wont steal it, loose lips sink ships. Happened to a kid in highschool.

i dont like to do things the easy way and i figure that if people want to steal my car bad enough, they will find any switch. i did a search and all i found was a drawing on how to ground out the distributer. how exactly does the lighter work? is the bottom the juice or is the sleeve on the cylinder?
The lighter works like a toaster, when you push it down, electricity is run through the coil, which causes resistance, which builds up heat.
I just thought of an idea...instead of rewiring the lighter:
Get a pushbutton toggle switch to turn your ignition power off and on, make sure you get one that will fit inside the lighter hole...cut out the bottom of the lighter (the part that is mounted in the console) and mount the switch there. That way, you push the lighter down, it pushes the switch, you start the car. Just make sure that if you mount it inside of the lighter, you make sure that the removable part of the lighter appears flush. This will make it so there is no actual rewiring of the lighter. Picture to follow......
