Check all the fuses. Make sure your battery didnt discharge. Does any electrical component work? Does the car start? The fusible links may have blown.

Make sure you didn;t cross-thread the battery when you hooked it back up. I had the same problem when i installed my deck and it was all because I very slightly cross-threaded the battery and the connection wasn;t right.

Cross-threaded...not crossed wires. I'm assuming you disconected either the positive or negative ground wire while you were doing the work on your car. Anyway, make sure that when you screwed the battery cable back in that you did not cross-thread the battery cable bolt. Lol, if you would have crossed the wires, there would have been a firework show to let you know you did somehting wrong.

its not !!

Not to be stupid but i still really don't know what you are saying about the battery? If it was something with the battery the car wouldn't even start right? The car dose start and some of the electronics work, like the rear deck lid and the defroster.

No, not nessecarily. When, my positve battrery cable was cross-threaded, the car would start fine, but my headlights, interior lights, pw, pdl, and rear hatch would not function.

Well, as long as it;s not cross-threaded really bad which it shouldn't, just unscrew it and re-thread it the right way. It could be a fuseable link or it could be the headlight switch mechanism. Lets hope thats not what it is. When I get home from work, I'll scan the wiring diagram for the headlights and send it to you. It will pinpoint the fuseable links and other componants so you have a place to start looking.

I don't think it has anything to do with the battery because it is new and i remember installing it correct, but i guess it wouldn't hurt to check. That would be great if you could tell me where the fusable links are!!

Yeah, I didn;t figure it was the battery. I was just trying to give you the easiest and cheapest thing to look at.

I think i know whaat happened!! I had my battery cable wrong and i think it messed up my battery. Anyway i triedto jump it but when ever i tryed to start it it smoked from what looked like the starter. I have one question what are those red wires comeing of of the starter are they the fuseable links because i think i fried them?

Nah I just think only a moron could believe that's true A cross threaded bolt still has VERY good contact with the battery post. Plus if your starter was turning, which is THE biggest current consumer in your car (unless you have a high wattage amp), then we can DEFINITELY rule out the cross threaded bolt as the cause of your other accesories not working!!

Odessey - Seriously, get a life. It happened, get over it. I was just trying to give the man a quick place to look first. He ruled it out, so lets move on.

Fastcam - Anytime you possibly overloaded the battery, it;s not a good thing. If you fried the wires, you need to replace them and then do some current checks at those points to make sure you're not overloading them again. I overloaded my battery and fried the ignition to alternator wire and caused all sorts of problems. Anyways, get thos wries fixed then start looking elsewhere if that doesn;t do the trick.

If the fuseable links are dead, how do i test them to make sure what ones are dead? I sure that they are shot because ofthe smoke! O and a friend sayed that he just bypassed his and didn't use them. Would that mess up the car?? Should i just do that?
