Extending Fusable Links and other wires
Ive got a 92 gta with the 350.. right now Im switching to super ram and im looking at ways to get all the wires running under the base lid cause its a pain in the *** getting the valve covers off and on with that loom right in the way with bigger roller rockers/tall covers...
so far i have the injector wires tucked in pretty good, talk about a pain in the *** gettin those in there... then the IAC, coolant, and TpS switches are up where they should be.. dumped the AIR pump so i just tucked the two connectors by the EGR that is also disconnected.
now the trouble spots
1. on the driver side the alternator connector is a little too short.. looks like a 12 gauge red and 16 gauge red, shoudlnt be any problems extending them right?
2. on the passenger side i have two sets of wires left, one is the two connectors for Air Conditioning, starts out with three wires but i plan on splicing it where it branches into four cause its a little easier to manage, again looks like normal 18-20 gauge wire, pretty thin stuff..
3. now the one that im really questioning.. is the branch of wires that comes off of the starter... there are 4 red 12 gauge and two or three 18 gauge wires (knock sensor/temp sensor/solinoid?)
is it ok to extend these 12 gauge wires with just normal wire dont have to use any special fusable links or anything?
i plan on soldering and heat shrink sealing all the connections and wrapping them in some kinda loom as to avoid grounding out and what not under the plenum
:hail:
any help to keep my car from burning down would be greatly appreciated

1) No problems extening them.
2) Sure
3) No problems extending but, try to keep the solder point about a foot away from the fusible links to keep from melting them down.
