What is this thing underneath the maf/burnoff/fuel relay?

Ok, I was going to take off my plenum, so I wanted to disconnect my fuel pump relay and crank it until there was no fuel.

Well, I disconnected it, but the car still ran!?

So I also tried disconnecting the maf burn off relay, and also the maf burn off relay. (They are interchangeable right?) but the car still ran!

Well, I took off all of these relays, and underneath them was some sort of wire junction block. It was plugged into the firewall underneath these relays. Well, I got it unscrewed, but my interior light doesn't work with it unplugged, nor would the car start, or even crank.

I plugged it back in, but the dome light still doesn't work, and the car doesn't start? Oops. What did I do?

Check to see if you blew a fuse or fuseable link. Was the battery disconnected when you disconnected that junction box thing?

Nope, of course not. won't make that mistake again.

I'll check the fuses tomorrow. That pretty much turned me off from wanting to touch my car for a little while. : )

The best solution is to unplug the fuel pump at the gas tank in the rear of the car. In the event of a fuel pump relay problem/failure, the oil pressure switch will supply power to the fuel pump.
The connector below all the relays that's screwed to the firewall wouldn't happen to be you bulkhead connector would it (lots of wires in 2 large wire loom wraps) ? 2It supplies all power to your interior. It's a good idea to screw the bolt back in and tighten it back down if you want to have power to you car.

That's gotta be it Deadbird. Sounds like it exactly

Tried getting the screw back in, but it's impossible. Even though it seemed plugged in, couldn't get it to connect right, or i blew a fuse.

How can I get to my pump easily to unplug it? That's a good idea, much better than the one I had.

I agree.. the bolt can sometimes be a pita to get back in especially with the ample room GM left in that spot
The rear will need to be lifted enough to get under it. You can't really miss the plug, it's the only one under there on the back seat backrest wall and is centered between the frame rails. There is a small tab you'll need to pull before the plug will come undone too.
