Circuitry
My 91 RS has an anti-theft system that practically requires a PhD in Astrophysics to figure out. It's connected to the door locks, and is supposed to automatically lock the doors when the car starts. Also, there is an engine-kill switch. I just brought the car back from the mechanic to have it checked out (I bought it last Saturday), and when I left, the doors automatically locked as soon as I started the car. When I arrived home, the car didn't automatically lock when I closed the doors, and when I tried starting it again, I had discovered that the engine-kill switch had armed itself. I think the battery inside the clicker needs to be changed. However, I am also having another problem that I don't even know is related to the anti-theft device. My door lock switches, cigarette lighter, dome light, and hatch-pop switch don't work now, either. They worked up until Tuesday/Wednesday of this week. Are these components on the same circuit? Do I have a blown fuse? Were is the fuse panel so that I can see what, if anything, is blown? Should I bring my car to a place that specializes in anti-theft systems to see if they can figure it out? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Not getting many replies? Sorry, but I probably can't help much either. Aftermarket alarm and remote starter systems are probably the #2 reason people junk their cars. They're a pain in the ****, and are typically installed by "technicians" whose sum total experience in electrical theory was changing a fuse in his sub-woofer amp when he was a pizza delivery boy....
I've seens some pretty hacked up installs, and all I can advise is to get a scematic (you paid for it - you should get one) and double check all the connections.
Personally, alarms are a false sense of security. Almost no one pays atrtention to auto alarms sounding off any nore. Most people call the cops and report the owners for haveing "nuisance" vehicles. I prefer the direct approach. While all the auto alarms buzz, whistle, and whine away, almost no one ignores these noises:

Anyone ever seen that alarm that shoots flames from under the car, at the doors? Now imagine all the problem we have with alarms and thank *** we don't have that system.

Door locks and lighter are 12 volt constant. I'm thinking that if you have other things in the car that are not working then you probley simply have a bad or blown fuse. The fuse panel is right above your left leg.

Thank you. My door locks, hatch pop switch, cigarette lighter, dome light, and rear-view mirror lights do not work. It does sound like a blown fuse. Are they on the same circuit?

Ok, I changed the fuse, it was a burned out 30 amp fuse in the "PWR ACC" position. (I had to go to Pep Boys and get a set of Torx drivers to get the lower dash panel off.) Everything works now. However, some moron $**t-rigged the rest of the electronics in the car, and now my passive anti-theft device works tempermentally. It's supposed to lock the doors automatically, and I can hear it try to do so, but when it does, I hear what sounds like electricity (?) and the door locks fail to lock or unlock. A few presses on the lock button on the key pad does the trick and it corrects itself. Looks like I'm gonna have to go under there again, whenever the rain decides to finish already, and fix whatever bug is in my anti-theft system's a$$.
