dome light question

I have another dome light question. I fixed my fuse problem so now i am good to go ok i bought a dome light that has the 2 map lights and put it into my car. my car originally came with just the plain dome light and it only had two wires. the new light had 3 so I connected them and it works but the map lights only work when the door is open. Is there anyway I can fix that so that the map lights turn on while the door is shut?

Mike

the third wire will be for a constant groud, in the 2 wires from the original light, 1 is 12 volt constant and one is ground with the door open(or dome light on with the headlight switch)
I'm not sure which pin needs the constant ground though

Try reversing the wires that go to the dome light, One wire will always have constant power even with door closed. This should do the trick.

the two wires from harness are white(door pinswitch-ground when door is open)&orange(12 volts from fusebox) the ground wire from map lites (3rd wire) needs to go to direct ground on body metal.
