Power Antenea Sucks
Ok, heres the deal. I got a beautiful 87 TA, and I am putting my stereo in the car. The guy I bought it from said one of the fuses was out, and I thought nothing of it. Its the one that does the interior lights, horn, trunk latch, power locks, face power to the stereo, and runs the motor for the power antenea. I get the fuse, throw it in, and the power antenea runs all the time. My headache is that my plan was to just cut the lead to the motor, push it down, and not care because I don't listen to the radio anyways... however, I can't get to the motor. I tried going from the wheel well and couldn't get to it, and since I'm too stubborn to buy an antenea wrench, I used the trusty ole vise grips.... and scratched the **** out of my car... nuts to that, but anyways, I don't know how to get to the antenea motor. If anyone knows how or knows what wire to cut, please make my life easier and let me know.... thanks!
i have a 87 ta and my ant stuck as well, the wirers you need to cut are located behind the plastick part that the comp is behind, the wirers are a white one and a gray one. after you cut thise you will be all set
Just pull the plastic fender liner, the antenna is right back there. If the antenna is stuck in the up position you won't be able to push it down, the plastic drive rod has it jammed in the up position. Just get the $20 repair kit from GM and fix the stupid antenna. You'll need to cut the wires to the antenna to remove it, then splice in a 4 wire trailer type connector so you can un plug the antenna next time you need it out.
If you don't want to splurge for the antenna nut wrench, use a pair of needle nose plyers with small tips, put the tips in the slots in the nut and carefully unnscrew it.

I replaced my power antenna with a fixed antenna from my old RS. The power one was stuck up and bent. I had the fender off so i just unbolted it and cut the wires and pulled the antenna cable out and then just bolted up the fixed antenna mount and ran the antenna wire inside. You might be able to get away with not taking the fender off but you will need to take the liner off.

Thanks
Thanks for all the help guys, I got it!
The way it worked out is that I could get to the wires from the space between the fender and the passenger door when the door was open. Simply cut the grey and white ones as specified and all is good! Thanks again!
