Welcome, the "chip" or PROM is located under a lid or cover on the ECM. Generally aftermarket PROM's will be appropriately labeled. The ECM is located under the dash on the passenger side. The PROM IC is held in with what they call a carrier, it locks in on either end and the whole thing comes out as one piece including the carrier. Otherwise it looks like any standard PROM cause that's what it really is, just programmed for the particular vehicle. They do this so they don't need many different ECM's for all the different models. The PROM contains what they call the "personality" of the car. If you remove the ECM always disconnect the battery first, and when handling the PROM touch one hand to something metal on the car to discharge any built up static electricity in you body. They have wrist straps for that purpose, but for most average situations just grounding yourself before handling the PROM should be fine.
