cig lighter & accesory
My question is how do you wire your cig lighter to your accesory for your car. Im new to all this and can't get it working. Tired of battery dying b/c of damn radar detector.

What, you can't unplug the radar detector of turn it off? I just thought of something- try elongating the wires for the lighter and splicing them into the YELLOW wire going into the radio, unless the detector will pull too much power and blow the fuse constantly. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

let me get this straight? you have your radar detector pluged into the cig lighter & it keeps draining your battery???
i have my CB & scanner into my cig lighter & havent had any problems! granted i just replaced the battery but it was because the other battery was more then like 5 years old. both CB & scanner has been in the car for like 3-4 years!
are you sure that it is your radar detect. draining it & not something else??

I suggested that becuase it's less wire he has to use and it's easier to access, but he can do it either way I suppose...

I've had my dectector wired to the fuse box for 10 years now and no problems. Even upgraded the detector last year and still no problems with battery dying.
Look elsewhere for the drain
