how to remove the distributor rotor?

so i bought a new cap and rotor, but what the hell, the damn rotor wont come off? is it supposed to pop right off?

i have an 89 camaro RS, 305 V8

pull straight up and it should come right off ..

it pulls straight off, they just get stuck on there from rust and grime.

When they stick you can take a small pry bar and rest it on the bottom edge of the rotor, the lip so to speak, and gently pry up against a pivot point, I use the throttle cable bracket (TBI car), but to make sure you don't mess anything up, I emphasize, gently pry. They do stick, but it shouldn't take a lot of force to get it off, I just had the same issue a few days ago, took 5 minutes.

any good tips on where to pry? mine lifts off the manifold about half a inch and doesn't budge after that
