Charging Problems PLEASE HELP
So I get done working on the engine and a few other things down at the shop today.... I go to start the car and all I hear is click click click..... So I figured dead battery, no biggy, maybe I accidentally left the door open and the dome light was on....
Anyways, after jumping it, I notice there is no charge other than the 9 or so volts that the battery is putting out. So I pull the alternator and had it checked at auto zone and it was putting out 14.5v. So I assume the battery is toast. So I replace it, and still no charge. I am stumped...what else could it be, a relay perhaps?
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: My dumb a$$ forgot to disconnect the battery when I pulled the driverside valve cover and it grounded out on the alternator post making for a nice spark show. I am assuming this has something to do with the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Well, it starts when I jump it. There's just no charge from the alternator, though it checked ok

Hmm....that is really wierd. I wouldn't think the ignition module would have anything to do with charging...but I guess I could try it. Gives me an excuse to go with a better one anyways

First, take off the battery connections and the heavy wire on the rear of the alt and measure with an ohmmeter from the wire at the alt to the positive terminal of the disconnected battery cable. It should read zero ohms. There is a fuse link between the wire at the rear of the alt and the battery, you may have blown it. Or, you can leave the battery connected and just take off the wire from the rear of the alt and measure it(don't let it touch ground), it should read exactly what the battery reads. If thats OK the pull the plug off the top of the alt and with the key on, engine off measure the voltage at each wire. If it has 2 wires one should read battery voltage and one will be a half a volt or so lower. Some models use a fuse in the fuse panel for the alt sense line, it may be marked "fan/chg" or something similar. Replace it if blown. My money is on the link based on what you said. LOL

Wire from the alternator to the battery is cut, or bad ground
