Nordkog digtal guage for 85 Iroc-Z

Ok guys it just came(NRD-DP4004) in yesterday, checked it and its ok. Just one thing on the speedometer there is only one wire (grey) and on my car it has a driven cable from the trans(700R4) how do I connect that? I checked on Nordskog site and they have a universal speedometer sending unit kit for $59.95, is that what I need for it to work guys? Somebody that has done or gone through this, any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help.

I had the predicessor to that brand, even before it was Cyberdene. On mine they had the same wire you're talking about, and it was designed to operate from a little sending unit that went in line with the mechanical cable. The mechanical cable is still necessary in order for your VSS to function. This little sending unit was designed to be permanently attached to the speedo cable, but came with a screw-in adapter with a length of cable to work temporarily.

I have no idea if your setup still works the same way as my old one, but from the sounds of it, it may.

If you have the cable setup on your car, then yes, you will need the adapter.

I have one that I will sell you for cheaper, I got the entire guage cluster and electronic VSS, so I don't need it.

PM me

Will do, after 5 CDT though. And I'll warn you it's no where near done, it's just in place right now.

Like I said it's not complete yet, but I had to get it out of my buddies garage. I plan to put the guages behind a polished aluminum plate.

I connected the power & ground and turned the ingition on, and it turned on(very cool, I like it). Everything lights up in 0's only the volts or showing. I had cyberdyne digital guages in my 81. You do need a sending unit for it like the other guys are saying, but mine was designed a little different. Mine went into the side of the trans where the cable would go, which completely eliminated the need for the cable. I'm pretty sure that was made by cyberdyne as well, I got it from Summit at the same time I got the guages.

i have the Cyberdyne kit in my 86 Z and I dont like it. You do have to keep the cable because of your VSS. The Gauge kit isnt very accurate. It does look great but i want accuracy more than looks. The part that isnt accurate is the Speedometer. The adapter you need will put the cable in a bind and it wont start to register until your going about 15 to 20 MPH. Your fuel gauge will move around more than you have noticed on the old one (a known problem on all Fbody's). And the oil pressure is all over the place. Lately my oil pressure guage is working better so it may have been something in the sender.

I posted pics on here. Do a search for CYBERDYNE and you will see it. I think i put the wire diagram in there too.

It hooks up really easy.

Good Luck!
