Ciggy Woes! Help Guys!
Hey fellas! I've been scratching my head today with my cigarette lighter. Here's the deal, as best as I can tell, the fuse pops when the lighter shell (the gold colored outer sheath) touches the ground contact. In other words, plugged into the power line (the orange wire) the lighter is fine (dome lights work, etc) but once contact is made with the ground, *POP* i'm done. Any ideas fellas? Should I get get a new lighter? lol

keep a zippo in the center console and forget it, or quit smoking
i would check to see if it is shorting out, or perhaps that wire in the middle that gets hot is broken and your arcing instead of heating just an idea

Is there anything such as a nickel or something in the lighter shorting it out? Are the two contacts on the base shorting together?

I got a similar or the same problem. When I put my lighter in the socket, just place it there, not even push it to heat it, it still gets hot, to the point where the fuse blows. I've tried 2 lighters with the same result. Any ideas? I hate that ugly hole in my dash.
