speedo wires into 85 t5 tranny?

I have a 91 RS with a 305 and a 700R4 tranny. I want to swap in a T5 from an 85 but it runs off a cable. Would I be able to adapt it somehow to work on my speedo?

From: out of my mind; be back in 5 minutes....

Car: 1989 Firebird Formula

Engine: Internal Combustion

Transmission: Completed

Axle/Gears: ones that turn.

Not easily.
You'll be much further ahead to find a speedo sending unit from a 90-92 T5 thirdgen, get the proper drive/driven gears for your rear axle ratio, and plug it in.

I'm not really familiar with the T5, would the plug to snap in for the electronic?
