Clear Lighted Rs Emblems All Done!!
That would be sweet. I started to do a front emblem, I even got small red white and blue LEd's, I tried to use the original emblem but I stopped just short of drilling holes. I couldn't bring myself to drill into the front incase the install didn't look good I would be left with holes.
Making a front emblem from the plex on the other hand I think is the way to go, that way if it doen'st turn out the original emblem will hide any extra holes. I will post a pic of an emblem I started to give you an idea of what it will look like. I kind of put the front emblem on the shelf as I am in the middle of an engine swap.
Won't be able to post the pic until next week though..

Me too, please. The link to the tech article doesn't work by the way.
I'm thinking of doing something similar for the Firebird...

Thanks, David!

How do you think this would look if the emblem part was clear and the rest was opaque with the led's behind the painted part so that the emblem lights up instead of the whole thing?

it might look good. i got the 91-92 ground effects and im thinking about placing a small LED, probably red, behind it so the funnel shape back end glows red.
I would really like a set of these plans as well. Email I_HATE_COWS@hotmail.com

Very cool, but I as well have Iroc-Z emblems!
And like they said above, the tech article doesn't work!
BTW, what was the greatest thing before sliced bread?

Guess the tech article got waxed with the board problems, I no longer have the file or the link to the person who can make the IROC emblem stickers, but I will see about getting an article together without pictures.

Not trying to hijack here... but there has been an article on this "mod" here for a while now. Here is some tips/resources that may help:
1: purchase "replacement" LED bulbs at www.superbrightleds.com
2: If you have a printer, you can purchase blank "decal" sheets at office depot, etc., and make your own "templates" for lettering. I wouldn't use the decals directly as I imagine they wouldn't last very long outside. BUT, you can print in "reverse" and possibly use them on the backside of the plexiglass<?>. My thoughts were to use them as "stencils", and paint the backside.
3: If you bevel the perimeter pretty sharp and polish them, the light will travel to the edges and create a "glow" effect. A belt sander works well to shape the plexiglass initially.
4: Just a note: be careful what you select for LED colors.... most states have laws restricting the light colors especially side marker lights. (my 24 yr old son found this out the hard way in OK... with his neato green bulb/clear side markers!) ;]
