Horn
Hey everyone...I had some electrical work done on my car today and I have a bit of a problem. The electrical work was to correct my cooling fan...about a month back, it wouldn't come on and off with the thermostat, so I temporarily rigged it to run all the time. So today I had everything fixed and running normally. In the process, I lost my horn. At first, I thought it was a blown fuse, but everything that works on the same circuit (rear-view mirror map lights, hatch release, dome light) all work. The only thing that is affected on that circuit is the horn. Does anyone have any pointers that could help me out? I would appreciate it...

That might be it. Easiest way to find it is to find the horn under the hood and then follow them untill they hit the relay. If i get the chance ill take a look under my hood and see if i cant find mine.
if yoru relay doesnt click id rip off the cover on your steering wheel and check things out there. my horn doesnt work that much, but it does. it'll only work if i hit the lower left hand corner. the 4 contacs on the steering wheel arnt the best design ever.

I wouldn't really know how to mess with the steering wheel cuz I have an airbag...I can just see myself playing with it and then having the damn thing deploy and breaking my nose as I was hunched over the wheel trying to fix things. As far as the relay, where is it located? I wanted to trace the wiring, but I can't even find the horn!

Good luck if you're looking for the relay under the hood... it's not there. The relay is located on the "convenience" (term used very loosely) center, under the dash, just right of the steering column.
As far as the air bag... it's held in with 4 bolts on the backside of the wheel (in relation to the blue arrows), the horn button mechanics are accessable once the bag it removed. If you remove the airbag, be sure to exercise caution while handling it.

It's under the dash up in the area where the diagnostic plug-in is, between the steering column and the radio pod.
My horn didn't work for a long time, too. I'd lost half of that nice, loud, strong dual horn years ago and was left with the wimpy-sounding half, lol. Then eventually, even that quit working.
I never found the problem until I took off my steering wheel to tighten up the steering column. After I reassembled everything, the horn worked again. So it'd always worked, but the lead wasn't making any contact behind the wheel.
Unfortunately, all I got back was the wimpy-sounding side of the dual horn, lol, so the other half must really be dead. I guess I need to replace the entire horn.
So if your relay isn't bad, then pull that wheel. It might be the contact--or it could be the horn itself.

green arrow - fuse panel
red - ALDL
white - corner of the (in)convenience center. You should hear the relay clicking from there when you press the horn.
