how do you change a tail light bulb?
how do you change a tail light bulb?
this may sound extremely stupid but...oh well.. here it goes. my rear right signal light is out. how do you take apart the fixture to replace the bulb. i tried to inspect it but it looks like the fixture is one bonded piece of plastic glued together. i didnt see any screws really. just a couple for the license plate lights. but i dont know how to access the corner lights. please help me on this issue. i may be out of place asking this question but i dunno where else to go. any help would be appreciated.
open the hatch, pull the rear interior plastic piece that lines the whole rear area of the trunk well out. after that u will see most if not all of the plastic wings nuts to take the tail lights out.

I figured out there is 10 butterfly screws, I kept hearing 6 there is 3 on both ends of the car and 4 in the middle, confused me. I assume I only need to unscrew the 6 end nuts and leave the middle 4 alone. Solved

Re: how do you change a tail light bulb?
Are the bulbs really supposed to come out? Mine don't seem to want to twist or come straight out. I think they have been in there for so long that they have fused together or something. What is the exact method of removing these? Twist and pull, or just pull? Thanks.
The same goes for the front turn signal bulbs. I pulled on it and the glass came apart from the metal base.

Re: how do you change a tail light bulb?
You push the bulb in slightly and then turn it about 90 degrees like you are unscrewing it. It then pulls out of the socket. You should be able to get the old base out by grabbing the brass with a pair of needle nose pliers and following my directions.
EDIT: Be careful when putting a new bulb in. On the double filament bulbs, there are two locking pins that stick out of the side of the base. One sits deeper in the socket than the other. If you put it in backwards, it might go on in but the bulbs will burn the wrong brightness.
