Power Wire

Need help I just swapped my engine out with another one its a 91 L98 TPI and I cant remember where the power wire goes after it laeves the battery. I have a 4 gauge black wire comming off the positive side of the battery and I can't figure out if it connects to the frame or somewhere else I wouldnt think it would connect to the frame since its a positive but I don't know where else to hook it. The battery is on the passengers side of the car.
PLEASE HELP

It connects to the post on the alternator.

red to big bolt on starter, black to engine block. grounds complete the circut. battery ground to block, alternator to block, starter to block, block to chassis

It might be a different setup on Kontrax's car than on mine. I have a black/red wire coming off the positive cable and going to the post on the back of my alternator. There is a fusible link where it comes off the positive cable.

no idea on that chart. i know for a fact thats the circut though. the alternator itself is the ground, the starter itself is a ground and the battery grounds to the block and the block to the chassis. thats the setup. block acts as a ground for all componets. i install starters, alternators, batteries and do other basic chassy work all day long. thats what i was trained and never had a problem...

ahh i see in that chart the battery is grounded to the starter WHICH is grounded to the block anyways. you can do it either way, all the same ground. i think a bolt in the front of the block would be easier to reach then the starter though thats how i did it

Let's try a little closer look at that chart, I do believe that symbol where the wires go from the battery to the starter solenoid and alternator is a + and not a -.

jalayman, in case you haven't gotten it yet, and the other posts have you completely confused because they've gone waaaay more in depth than the simple question you asked... the 4 ga. wire from the positive terminal connects to your starter.

it says 19 blk to starter solenoid. do you realize that your starter is a giant piece of steel? the connection of the starter to the block is the ground, the starter itself is the ground. so you can ground it to the starter or the block. either way its going to the chassis because the block is grounded to the chassis. thats why you ground the block to begin with

I didn't say anyone was wrong. I merely answered his very simple question about that one, very obvious, 4 ga. wire(the FAT one, lol), which goes to the starter. But you guys have thrown soooooo much information at him that he's probably completely confused, lol. Or maybe you two are just arguing amongst yourselves, lol.

All he asked about was the fat one, lol. I'm sure he's worked it out by now anyway.
