hatch motor wire connector

I own a 87 camaro which had a broken hatch motor and i decided to just buy a whole new unit. I got one off ebay from an 88 Iroc. The problem is that one of my connectors on the new unit (the one that connects the unit to the car) is different from my old one and does not fit the connection to the car. My question is would it be possible to splice the wires and connect the old connector to the new unit and just use a wire nut and electrical tape. I dont want to ruin it if it does not work as i can resell it to somebody and hopefully not lose too much money. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Go to a junkyard and find an 88 or later car and take the connector from it. then take a small jewelers screwdriver or paper clip and remove the pins from the old connector and the new connector. Then insert your old wires into the new connector. No muss, no fuss, no splice and a neat looking job.

thanks, but i already have both of the different connectors ( i still have the old hatch motor) so i should just be able to switch these right?
And for my own knowledge , splicing the wire and adding the connector would work right?

Yes, you could do that and yes you could cut the wire and splice it together. The way I mentioned just looks better IMHO.
