Fan Blower Motor Issues

Ok, I am having this very strange issue with the fan controller for the blower motor.

I can get the first three settings fine, but once I get to the 4th, (High) setting, the blower motor just turns off.

I know the blower motor gets a 12v feed, but I am not sure how it changes speed. There is a little coil resistor pack right near the Evaporator Coil, and I checked it. It physically looked fine, I pulled one out of my Camaro and it worked good too. So that isn't a problem.

I Changed the relay with one that I know is working and it didn't change anything either. On top of that, even with the relay unplugged, the fan motor still works and I can still change the fan speed. I am not even sure what that relay does.

Ok, last, I switched the fan selector switch on the HVAC controls, thinking that could be the problem. Alas, it was not the problem and I still can't get the high speed.

How would I go about trying to find out what was wrong? It hasn't been working for a few days now and I decided to try it again while I was burning up in my car. It worked for about a minute, until I hit a bump and the high speed went out again. I checked all the wires and they look fine.

Also, I just changed the blower motor a few months ago, so I doubt that could be bad.

AHH!!!

Help me please

Thanks, I hope it helps..

I will check that relay again, but it would be wierd if two relays were bad. However, it would explain how the fan turned off when I hit a bump.

Well.. I did a little more investigating into what was going on with my motor, and I still can't figure it out.

I have 12v from Red to ground, 12v, from orange to ground, 12v to the blower motor when the switch is on high from purple to ground, yet, the motor isn't turning on?

Now, I really don't understand why the motor would work on the lower settings but not on high, its too simple to have any sort of resistors in the motor itself to limit the actual speed, thats all done externally, as long as the motor is getting 12v, it should work? Or am I wrong?

I've haphazardly replaced everything associated with it, and I am getting good voltages throughout, so I doubt its a connection issue.

The only thing left is the blower motor itself, but I just don't see how.

I figured it out.. the infamous red-wire of death syndrome that plagues these cars.

Here's a pic

sorry to resurrect this one from the dead, but I remember having this problem myself. is there any problem with simply cutting both ends on that fusible link power connector and simply crimping them into one of those round crimp connectors? Because that's what I did... wanna make sure that won't blow anything up and will work fine.

Also, my blower motor doesn't work in High speed. Other 3 settings are fine. Should this be the relay? Thanks for the help
