LED Flasher unit?

I've got amber 1157 replacements front and rear in all the turn signals and amber 194s in the fender lights. I've got a resistor for each side to send it back to the stock resistence so the stock blinker/flasher unit will work.

What I was wondering is, before I cut these things into the harness of the car... How can I figure out what voltage all these take and where can I get a flasher unit that would work without the excess resistors and flash normally? The stock one just stays on and doesn't flash because there isn't enough resistence...

I checked out both a local parts place today and autozone and neither had anything saying "heavy duty". Where did you guys get yours? I bought one to just see if it'd work because it was only 1.99 and it said variable something-or-other on it...

Can I just order one online?

You can try asking for a "solid-state" or "electronic" flasher, but if the counter-guy doesn't know what you're talking about he'll sell you the wrong thing (which is pretty common anyway.)

They're often used in pickups with towing packages, to keep the flash rate steady when the extra load of the trailer lights is added.

The Tridon unit looks about like a regular flasher, but it's slightly taller and the case is translucent black plastic instead of a metal can. If you look closely you can see the electronics through the plastic.

Oooooohhh, so it's the electronic one vs the thermal or whatever that I bought? I remember see that half-translucent one....

the one hes talking about is electronic.

the one im talking about is thermal.. except it doesnt rely on a outside load, it has a internal load.

either one will work. his discription was better, so if you see what hes talking about, get that
