Ahhh!

I am only running 12v with the car running. For awhile it was holding, at 12. Now, it wont hold charge at all. Here is what I have done so far:

i replaced the supply wire from the back of alt to the battery itself, instead of having it ran to a junction block, no avail.

traced red wire from plug on the alt to the starter, has battery voltage when tested with a volt meter, no avail,

traced brown/black (color hard to tell) wire to relays on the firewall and then it splits to go inside the car, relays swapped around, no avail.

we tried jumping the brown/black wire to the battery, no avail.

this is with two alternators, which both are fine, weve torn out all the accessory wiring that I put in for guages and the tach.

im seriously lost and would like to get it put back together so he can make another two hour trip to come back and get it

any suggestions?

Also, battery is new. Alt tests fine.

Here's the short version, the plug on the gen should have 12 volts on the red wire all the time, the tan a little less than 12 with the key in the run position. You can do this test with the plug pulled and the the key in the run position. The wire off the rear lug has a fuse link and ties to the battery. There is a fuse in the interior fuse panel labeled "chg" in the upper right hand side. From memory it's a 10 amp fuse, check it. If those voltages are correct then you have 2 bad generators.
