Speedometer
Just finished installing a TPI in my TBI Firebird. At this point the only gauge that seems to be working is the Tac. The speedometer does not work, oil gauge is pegged and the fuel gauge seems to but I am not sure. I think the speedomter is correctly hooked up but does the lead wire (brown in color) go to the purple or yellow wire on the Speed sensor at the tranny? Any other suggestions for my problems are welcome!!
Thanks guys

on the wiring diagram i have the brown wire from the dash ties into a brown/yellow wire that runs between the speed buffer (terminal F) to the ECM (*EDIT*terminal A10, brown wire at ECM).
the purple & yellow wires go from the speed sensor to the speed buffer.
**edit** if im wrong on this, i hope someone will correct me.

Shouldn't that be a brown wire going to pin "A10" of the ECM with an orange/black wire going to pin "B10". All service manuals I have for 88 & 89 show a yellow wire going to pin "C10" of the ECM and that is for the Coolant Temp Sensor (CTS) input.

your right Trickster, i looked at the right diagram & connector, but i typed in the wrong terminal letter.
also i didn't notice that the brown/yellow wire at the buffer changes to a brown wire on the other side of C207 going to the ECM.
i think that maybe the brown wire from the dash ties in at C207 on the buffer side of it
i corrected it in the above post so i don't confuse anyone else
i think i shouldn't try to do 4 things at the same time in my old age any more. yep, C10 is for the CTS.
thanks Trickster, im glad you saw that :hail:

Alright guys, if I follow you correctly, I need to move a wire from the existing TBI harness as ya'll indicated, the my new TPI harness to make sure it will work. If I have to, you would have thought, the harness manufacturer would have told me. Things have not been as Painless as I hoped!! Again as always ya'll are the best and I will get back to ya. Trick, I know I still own you some info and I will get it to ya as soon as possible!!
