Dome Light Problem

The dome light on my '84 Camaro doesn't go out when the doors are closed. The dimmer switch isn't on, unless the wiring there is messed up. The courtesy lights down by the kick panels turn off when the doors are closed, so I don't think that's the problem either. Where/how should I look for the cause?

Do you have the two reading lights in your car? If so you might have a short to ground between them and the dome light.

I have the overhead console thing with the one map light, but there's no bulb in it.

There is a ground wire that goes between the map light and the dome light. Check that to see if it is grounding out and causing the dome light to stay on.
